GAA odds

GAA betting is taking off in a big way and really rewards punters who are informed and knowledgeable about football and hurling.

To take advantage of the brilliant GAA odds here at Ladbrokes, here are a few quick stats to get you started…

Football Championships betting

The provincial championships may be important to GAA teams for local bragging rights, but winning your provincial championship isn’t as important as it seems.

Four out of the last five All-Ireland Senior Football Championship winners were all beaten in their provincial championship, with Kerry being the exception in 2007.

Punters shouldn’t be ruling out teams based on their provincial championship performance.

Hurling Championship betting

The provincial hurling championships are slightly different to the football as there are only two provincial championships in Ireland – Munster and Leinster.

This increases the importance of winning as it guarantees a place in the All-Ireland semi-final.

However, 2010 All-Ireland winners Tipperary were beaten in their provincial championship and still managed to win the All-Ireland. That victory has been the exception rather than the rule though.

Kilkenny won the Leinster Championship each year from 2006 to 2009 before going on to All-Ireland glory, highlighting the importance of winning the provincial championship.

National Leagues betting

The National Leagues may only been  seen as a warm up for the Championship,  but from 2005 to 2010 half of the All-Ireland Senior Football winners won the National Football League in the same yea, showing just how seriously teams take the event.

The National Hurling League hasn’t thrown up as many All-Ireland winners as the football league however, with Kilkenny the only team to win both in the same year in the past five seasons.
