Run over 1m6f, the race is the most valuable flat handicap in Europe.  Elsewhere, on the day two card for York are the Gimcrack Stakes, which is a two-year-old sprint, and the Lonsdale Cup, which is another stamina test over 2m and is often contended by the same horses who also enter the Doncaster Cup.

Yorkshire Oaks also on the Ebor bill

Two further Group One races are contested at the Ebor meeting, with the most notable being the Yorkshire Oaks. Open to fillies and mares, Midday, Islington and Lush Lashes are among the latest victors. The other Group One is the Nunthorpe Stakes and brings together the ultimate sprinters over 5f. The Lowther Stakes and the Strensall Stakes are other races which will be popular for punters searching for York Ebor odds.
