Scottish Grand National 2009 stakes are high
Of the £200k prize fund set aside for this race last year, the winner received £114,020 but that figure is set to rise again this year. Top jockeys, trainers and Scottish Grand National horses from the UK and Ireland will be attracted to Ayr racecourse in April, hopeful of coming away victorious in what will be the last major meeting of the jumps season before attentions turn back to the flat.
Last year’s festival provided a captivating Scottish Grand National race, with unfancied Iris De Balme (66/1) claiming a decisive and impressive win, 14 lengths clear of 2nd place Halcon Genelardais (10/1). Flintoff (28/1) claimed third, with Richard Johnson ridden favourite, Old Benny (4/1), in fourth.
Scottish Grand National betting odds all in one place
Ferdy Murphy has been the most successful trainer of Scottish Grand National winners this millenium, with wins coming in 2005 with Joes Edge and in 2000 with Paris Pike. Last year however, he could only manage 12th and 13th places with Noir Et Vert and Leading Man respectively.
If last year’s race is anything to go by, we are in for a treat on April 18th and you can find all the Scottish Grand National betting odds in the lead up to the event over at Ladbrokes.com!
