Pertemps Final Odds

Pertemps Final Odds

The Ladbrokes World Hurdle is certainly the premiere stamina race for hurdlers at the Cheltenham Festival, but that does not mean that the Pertemps Final is without some talented horses. However, it is largely considered that the horses to feature in the Pertemps Final odds over three miles are just short of the standard needed to run credibly in the Ladbrokes World Hurdle.

Avoid young horses in the Pertemps Final odds

Age has been a significant factor when looking at the most recent Pertemps Final winners, with horses aged eight and over dominating. However, Buena Vista was the first horse older than nine to triumph since the legendary Willie Wumpkins won for the third time in succession as a 13-year-old in 1981. It is horses aged eight and nine that may prove best to side with in the Pertemps Final odds.

Ratings also a leading factor in the Pertemps Final odds

Top weights and all horses with an official rating over 150 should also be left alone, with horses rated between 129 and 142 holding the best records in the most recent renewals.

Horses on Cheltenham debut worth considering in Pertemps Final odds

Buena Vista went against many of the trends last year and his victory must be counted as an anomaly. In general, the Pertemps Final has been won by a horse with no previous experience of Cheltenham or at least those to have never won or placed at the course. A run within the month of the Cheltenham Festival is also good preparation, alongside being weighted below 10st 9lb.
