King George Chase Betting
The Christmas period is a massive time in horse racing betting, with the King George VI Chase at Kempton the highlight of this time of year. Some of the best chasers in training feature in the King George VI Chase betting as their stamina is put to the test over three miles at Kempton. The King George is also a major trial for the Cheltenham Gold Cup which takes place only a few months later in March.
Stamina and good jumping key for any horse in the King George Chase betting
With 18 fences needing to be safely negotiated in the King George, solid and safe jumping are just as vital as proven stamina when arriving at Kempton. The race is also perfect preparation for the Cheltenham Gold Cup as it is over a similar distance, but the circuit and difficulty of the fences are considered slightly less demanding than Cheltenham.
Heart is considered to have been the biggest attribute of Desert Orchid, who jointly owns the record of four victories in the King George Chase odds. Desert Orchid led the field from the starting tape and used this to his advantage to put pressure on his rivals.
Kauto Star has most recently matched Desert Orchid’s four successes and although he is prone to putting in the odd sloppy jump, his undoubted class always seemed to carry him through.
Long Run the new favourite in the King George Chase odds
Long Run is the current champion of the King George after his latest victory denied Kauto Star an unprecedented fifth victory. Long Run went on from his King George VI Chase victory to become the youngest winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup since Mill House in 1963.
