Jonathan Trott has settled seamlessly into both England’s Test and one-day teams and is now a prominent member in both top orders.
Trott burst onto the scene with a debut century in the final Test against Australia in 2009 and this innings helped England win the Ashes.
Following further promising series against Bangladesh and Pakistan, Trott once again put Australia to the sword to help England defend the Ashes in 2011.
Trott averaged 89 in the series, which included two not-out centuries of 135 and 168.
The South African-born batsman also has some impressive averages in the one-day form of cricket, particularly at the 2011 Cricket World Cup where he scored 422 runs across seven innings.
However, the remainder of 2011 presented a new challenge for Trott as he faced off against India for the first time.
Trott’s only experience of India until this one-day series came in the group stages of the 2011 Cricket World Cup, when he managed just 16 runs.
A four-Test series was Trott’s real initiation, and his unflappable batting saw him hit 92 across two innings in the first Test, but was hampered by injury in the following games as England went on to win the series 4-0.
A series of five home one-day internationals followed, and Trott looked particularly impressive when smashing 63 runs from 60 balls at Cardiff as England won three games.
The return ODI fixtures in India did not prove as fruitful for England, with India running out 5-0 winners, but Trott did manage to cement his credentials further in the third match of the tour, top scoring with 98 runs.
It is that kind of form that saw Trott named 2011 ICC Player of the Year and always makes the Jonathan Trott odds well worth checking.
