Irish Sports Betting

Irish Sports Betting

Whilst the likes of soccer and rugby union are popular sports in Ireland, sports such as Gaelic football and hurling remain what many people have in mind when talking of Irish sports.

It’s just as well then that Ladbrokes has plenty of brilliant betting markets for all punters –whether they’re Irish or not – to take advantage of…

Hurling and football are two of the most popular sports in Ireland

The GAA – which stands for the Gaelic Athletics Association – vigorously promotes Irish sports such as Camogie, Gaelic football, hurling, Gaelic handball and rounders.

However, it’s Gaelic football and hurling that attract the biggest crowds and the biggest bets.

There are loads of different leagues and cup competitions for both sports, including club and regional competitions, meaning there is never a shortage of games to bet on.

They aren’t the only sports that the Irish are famous for though…

Horse racing remains as popular as ever in Ireland thanks to racecourses such as Punchestown and the Curragh and the continued excellence of Irish horses.

The likes of Hurricane Fly – who has several Champion Hurdle wins on both sides of the Irish Sea – and Camelot – who won the 2012 1,000 Guineas – have kept Irish horses and Irish trainers at the forefront of the sport and the forefront of the betting markets.

The Irish rugby union team is also one of the best in the world and the soccer team has consistently shown its class and made it to the finals of Euro 2012.

Irish sport is booming and, as a consequence, so is betting on Irish sports.
