Grand National Odds
Since 1936 only one horse has managed to win the Grand National two years on the trot and that was the great Red Rum in 1973 and 1974. Horses including Amberleigh House, Hedgehunter, Mon Mome and Don’t Push It have failed in this quest since and now Ballabriggs will be the latest to attempt to emulate this feat.
Ballabriggs will be a popular pick in the Grand National odds
By winning the Grand National last season, Ballabriggs has already proven that his jumping and stamina cannot be questioned at Aintree. Ballabriggs successfully cleared all 30 fences and saw out all of the 4m4f trip. The fact that he is proven over course and distance is perhaps the leading reason as to why he is the ante-post favourite in the current Grand National odds.
Big rivals back to take on Ballabriggs again in Grand National odds
For many chasers, the Grand National is the ultimate goal at the start of a new season and they will be trained accordingly to hopefully arrive at Aintree in peak condition.
State Of Play must be considered a bit of a Grand National specialist as he has finished in the each-money in each of the last three years and is likely to return to Aintree again, while big things may be expected of Cheltenham Festival winner Junior, who was not high enough in the weights to make the final 40 for the Grand National last season.
Other horses expected to try their luck in the Grand National include West End Rocker, Chicago Grey and former winner Mon Mome.
