Euro 2012 odds

The European Championships are always a thrilling tournament and with the world’s best teams and players on display, there are plenty of brilliant Euro 2012 odds to take advantage of.

Spain are definitely the team to beat, but there have been some surprises throughout the years…

Denmark and Greece have shown there can be upsets

Reigning European Champions Spain head into the tournament as favourites and it’s hard to look too far beyond the Spaniards when considering potential winners.

Spain were brilliant in their 2008 victory seeing off all challengers and defeating Germany 1-0 in the final thanks to a Fernando Torres strike.

With players of the calibre of Xavi and Andres Iniesta supplying the likes of Torres and David Silva they can be irresistible going forward and with Gerard Pique marshalling the defence, they will also be defensively sound.

However, there have been some major shocks in the European Championships in recent years, which means there could be some brilliant Euro 2012 odds to take advantage of.

Denmark provided the first real shock when they won the tournament in 1992, defeating Germany 2-0 in the final.

However, probably the biggest surprise came in 2004 when Greece emerged as the victors.

They finished second in their group behind hosts Portugal and then proceeded to defend their way to the title, beating France 1-0 in the quarters, the Czech Republic 1-0 in the semis and Portugal 1-0 in the final.

While Spain may head into the tournament as big favourites, it’s well worth keeping an eye out for a couple of surprise packages to make the most of the Euro 2012 odds.
