Euro 2012 betting

The European Championships are always a thrilling tournament and with the world’s best teams and players on display, there are some brilliant Euro 2012 betting odds to take advantage of.

However, there’s one team who is currently head and shoulders above all others and will be hard to ignore in the Euro 2012 betting…

Spain are still the team to beat

Reigning European Champions Spain head into the tournament as favourites and it’s hard to look too far beyond the Spaniards when considering potential winners.

Spain were brilliant in their 2008 victory seeing off all challengers and defeating Germany 1-0 in the final thanks to a Fernando Torres strike.

With players of the calibre of Xavi and Andres Iniesta supplying the likes of Torres and Fernando Llorente, chances are likely to be in high supply, while Iker Casillas is among the best goalkeepers in the world.

The one problem is whether they will be strong enough in defence, with Carles Puyol out injured and unable to lead the team.

Furthermore, history is also against the Spaniards as no side has ever retained the title since its inception in 1960.

The closest any side has come was West Germany who were defeated finalists in 1976 after winning the title in 1972.

With that in mind, it could be worth opposing Spain in the Euro 2012 betting.

Holland and Germany will be among the big challengers, with both having players with the capabilities of scoring goals.

Mario Gomez has been a frequent scorer in the Bundesliga this season and is one of a handful of players from Bayern Munich out to slightly make up for the Champions League final defeat to Chelsea.

Meanwhile, Holland can call upon both Klaas-Jan Huntelaar and Robin Van Persie for goals as they aim to go one better than when losing to Spain in the 2010 World Cup final.
