Epsom Oaks betting

Epsom Oaks betting

Although it is the Epsom Derby odds that typically takes centre stage, the Epsom Oaks betting will also be popular with punters. Both races are among the three Group One showdowns taking place across two days at Epsom each June and feature many of the top three-year-old horses of the season, with the Epsom Oaks attracting the females and the Epsom Derby the men.

The Oaks is the second Group One of the season for fillies, following on from the 1000 Guineas at Newmarket. However, whereas speed is essential for horses in the 1000 Guineas odds as the race is run over 1m, the Oaks also requires entries to show some stamina as the contest is run over an additional 4f.

Look for horses priced at 10/1 or shorter in Epsom Oaks betting

Many of the horses who perform well in the 1000 Guineas are obviously positioned among the favourites in the Epsom odds for the Oaks as they are considered to be the best three-year-old fillies in running. This form line is worth considering as the market leaders in the Oaks odds have triumphed in the most recent runnings of the Epsom showpiece, particularly those situated within the top four of the betting. Horses priced at 10/1 or shorter are particular worthy of consideration.

Some other useful stats to consider in the Epsom Oaks betting

Looking back through the most recent Epsom Oaks winners, there are some general statistics that have been common among many. Fillies that have already run once or twice in the same season before the Epsom Oaks tends to fare well, alongside those to have won on their final start before arriving at Epsom.
