Pour Moi certainly upset some big trends when winning the last Epsom Derby, but that does not mean that these trends should be avoided when attempting to uncover the next winner. Many of the top three-year-olds in training will feature in the Epsom Derby betting and some other big names have secured victory in recent years, most notably Sea The Stars, but also Workforce and Authorized.

The big trend that Pour Moi’s Derby victory went against was his breeding. Although not many French-bred horses had contested the Derby in the past decade, none of those which did arrive at Epsom had won, with Irish-bred entrants typically gaining the upper hand.
However, there were some other notable trends that Pour Moi did adhere to. Among these were that he had had no more than two runs already in the season before Epsom and that he triumphed on his most recent run before the Derby,
Furthermore, Pour Moi had already won in Group company ahead of the Derby, he had debuted as a two-year-old in a race over 1m and that the only time that he had previously finished outside of the first three was on his very first start.
Camelot at the head of the 2012 Epsom Derby betting
Having done little wrong in a two-year-old career that also included a comfortable victory in the Racing Post Trophy, it is no surprise that Camelot is at the head of affairs for the 2012 Epsom Derby betting. The fact he is trained by Aidan O’Brien is another positive towards his cause. Other early Derby contenders include Parish Hall, Born To Sea and Swedish Sailor.
