David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle Odds

David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle Odds

The Cheltenham Festival is not all about testosterone and which colt or gelding is the quickest, the older ladies also get their time in the limelight in the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle. The mares have to be at least four to take part and nine hurdles need to be negotiated in the 2m4f trip.

Quevega will again dominate the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle odds

Quevega has looked unbeatable in the last three years to land a hat-trick of victories in the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle and it will take a special horse to bring this winning streak to an end at this season’s festival. There is no doubt that Quevega will be among the best-backed horses in the Cheltenham odds and will rightly be seen by many shrewd punters to be the biggest banker across the whole four days of racing.

Back Quevega ante-post in the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle odds

Quevega was sent off as an odds-on favourite for the latest of her three victories and there is a strong possibility that she will be a similar price this season. With the horse only run sparingly over a season by trainer Willie Mullins these days, waiting until nearer Cheltenham is unlikely to present any new clues to whether she has lost some of her spark. With few mares looking capable of laying down a big challenge, there are certainly grounds to take advantage of the early ante-post odds.

Sparky May and L’Accordioniste were among the biggest threats to Quevega in the last running of the David Nicholson Mares’ Hurdle and they could prove the stiffest opposition again.
