Champion Bumper Odds

Horses building up their racecourse experience or finishing building up their strength ahead of a hurdling career in the following season can often be seen in the Champion Bumper. Dunguib and Cue Card are both horses to have romped away to Champion Bumper successes and then returned to the Cheltenham Festival in the following season to head the market for the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle.

Cheltenian was the latest Champion Bumper winner and big things are expected of him at this year’s Cheltenham Festival, with a run in the Neptune Investment Management Novices’ Hurdle looking the most likely.

Champion Bumper odds the place for stars of the future

Florida Pearl is another of the former winners of the Champion Bumper and later in his career he went on to land the King George odds at Kempton, beating the legendary Best Mate in the process.

Meanwhile, Al Ferov has previously run in the Champion Bumper and returned to the Cheltenham Festival in a latter year to claim victory. Others to have also done this are Alberta’s Run, Trabolgen and Iris’ Gift.

Keep an eye on Willie Mullins’ runners in the Champion Bumper odds

Willie Mullins holds the record for the most Champion Bumper winners with six in total and he is sure to assemble another strong team of runners this season. Horses that are without a run going into 2012 could be worth considering in the Champion Bumper odds, although horses to have had at least three bumper preparation races should also be considered.
