Basketball Betting

With his 2011 award, Derrick Rose became the first Chicago Bulls player to be named MVP since Michael Jordan in 1998

Basketball is a fast and furious game of end-to-end attacks and high-scoring games – and basketball betting is just as exciting

Even though it’s a team game, there are plenty of individuals worth considering when looking at the basketball betting odds…

LeBron James is the biggest name in basketball betting

LeBron James is such a big name in basketball that when he became a free agent in the summer of 2010, his decision regarding which team to join was such a big moment that it was broadcast in an ESPN special called – appropriately enough – ‘The Decision’.

In the end he decided to join Miami heat in a deal that is worth around $15million-a-year to the man from Ohio.

He nearly made it a perfect first season for the Heat when, after winning the Eastern Championship, they faced Dallas Mavericks in the final – a team the Heat had defeated five years previously in the final.

However, it wasn’t to be and the Mavericks ran out 4-2 winners in the NBA finals, leaving James without the NBA title.

With James playing alongside the likes of Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh at the Heat though, it is surely only a matter of time before the East Coast side bag their second NBA title.

Derrick Rose could be the next superstar

During the nineties, basketball betting was dominated by one team – the Chicago Bulls.

With the legendary Michael Jordan backed up by the brilliant Scottie Pippin and Dennis Rodman, the Bulls swept to six NBA titles throughout the decade.

They may not have won an NBA title since 1998 but, with point guard Derrick Rose winning the MVP award in 2011 – the youngest player to ever do so at 22-years-old – they could soon be worth backing in the basketball betting again.
