80% of the time a Barcelona bet is a winning bet under Guardiola

There are a lot of people who believe Pep Guardiola is a lucky man for inheriting such a talented Barcelona squad and that most people could do the job he does – here’s why the Spaniard is the greatest thing to happen to football.

Following a season as head coach of the Barcelona B team, Guardiola replaced Frank Rijkaard as Barcelona coach, and has subsequently led his side to three La Liga titles in three years, making Barcelona one of the most bankable prospects in the football betting.

But many believe Guardiola owes a lot to Rijkaard despite the Dutchman winning just two titles in five years in charge, however Barcelona’s current side includes just nine of the 24 players Guardiola inherited.

Guardiola has let superstars such as Ronaldinho, Deco, Samuel Eto’o, Thierry Henry and Yaya Toure all leave, and has brought in or promoted the likes of Gerard Pique, Sergio Busquets, Dani Alves Pedro and David Villa over the past three years to establish a great team.

Having established the playing style at Barcelona B, Guardiola has led Barcelona to three league titles, two Champions League titles and a Copa del Rey using his brand of possession football, and it has reaped dividends for the club.

La Liga odds

In his first season Barcelona won 71% of their league games, scoring an average of 2.76 goals per game and conceding just 0.92 on average.

Over the past two years the scoring average has dropped to 2.50 goals per game but in the 2009/2010 season, Barcelona won 81% of their league games and last season they won 79%, conceding just 0.55 goals on average.

Compare this with Rijkaard’s side averaging 2.11 goals per game and conceding 0.92 in his best season as Barcelona manager (2005/2006) and it’s clear that Guardiola has evolved this Barcelona team.

Guardiola should be celebrated for what he has brought to football and a Barcelona bet is one of the strongest bets in football betting today.
